How it Works

How does Acupuncture work?

The human body has 12 channels running through the body connected to our organ systems with over 360 acupuncture points.

Each acupuncture point is connected to your nervous system and tells your body to take a specific action or function to heal itself. When acupuncture points are combined very clear messages are sent to your body in what action to take.

Your body does the healing! The human body is an “electric body,” like a grid network functioning within a frequency range that either represents a state of health and balance or a state of dis-ease. Acupuncture sends a very specific message to your body to take an action to heal itself, utilizing the nervous system, whether physical injury or internal medicine.

To best heal, we often need to step back and observe our bodies, our life, our thoughts and circumstance from a perspective almost outside of ourselves. This way, we can awaken to what we have to change to become our best self. This transformation comes from that perspective. I’ll help guide you to the best version of yourself. Acupuncture assists the body in being self-aware; receiving the message that’s it’s time to make a change.

The first appointment is roughly 90 minutes including a very thorough intake to insure we aren’t just treating symptoms, but you, as an entire person.

With every follow up treatment we assess and re-assess where you are and what messages the body needs to hear, to heal itself. Acupuncture is cumulative, the more the body hears a message of what to change, the better the outcome and faster you heal.

How many treatments will you need? If you have an acute physical injury that you’ve never experienced before, you might just need a few treatments. If you have pain from a long time, reoccurring injury or an internal dis-ease that you’ve been living with for a long time, you might need treatments once a week for a few months. Really, it’s different for every person and is based on your body.
